Cincinnati, Ohio lies just north of the Ohio River and the Kentucky State line. Cincinnati was the first inland American city large enough to measure up to the large cities located on the east coast. Since Cincinnati was the first inland city settled it is often thought of as the first purely American city, because it lacked influence from other parts of the world. Cincinnati is also referred to as the “Chili Capital of the World,” because it has more chili restaurants per capita than any other city in the world. Downtown Cincinnati is centered on Fountain Square which contains a fountain surrounded by office buildings, hotels, shops and restaurants. Cincinnati is well known as the Queen City and in honor of that name the Great American Tower at Queen City Square was built, it features a crown like structure on top that imitates the crown of Princess Diana of Wales; it is currently the tallest building in Cincinnati and the third tallest in Ohio.  

 There are two major professional sports teams in Cincinnati, MLB’s Cincinnati Reds and the NFL’s Cincinnati Bengals.  The Cincinnati Reds’ originated as The Cincinnati Red Stockings which became the first professional team in the country in 1869. The Reds play in the Great American Ball Park and the Bengals play in Paul Brown Stadium, they are both located on the banks of the Ohio River. You can also catch games of the University of Cincinnati Bearcats.
